HOW I STARTED
Coaching Transformed My Life When I Needed It Most.
Before I encountered coaching, I was frequently stressed & sabotaged myself and my relationships by being restless, controlling, and critical. Getting coached made a HUGE difference in my health, well-being, and leadership.
Now…
I am more calm, kind, gentle, and forgiving with myself and others. My relationships with family, friends, and colleagues are EXTRAORDINARY. Simply said… Coaching radically changed my Life. Now, imagine if I could do the same for you.
My background includes experience as an Entrepreneur, Fundraiser, Manager, and Leader. So I intrinsically understand where many of my clients are at and the issues they face.
In the nonprofit world, I successfully served in positions of progressive responsibility in fundraising and university technology transfer. Prior to launching my coaching practice, I led a team of ten professionals at Princeton that raised $35million for the University each year. Before that, I served as the Chief Development Officer for Stony Brook University’s College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. In the corporate world, I led market research, product development, sales, and marketing initiatives. As an entrepreneur, I transformed a division of an early-stage company in San Francisco, where I built and led a team of three dozen researchers, artists, engineers, and marketing managers.
I’m an expert in Positive Intelligence (PQ) Coaching.
Coaching helped me chase down my dreams and I intentionally use my martial arts mindset and courageous and compassionate coaching style to help my clients overcome obstacles and win in life.
Jiu-Jitsu, Martial Arts World Champion
After my father’s friend returned from the Vietnam War in the 1970’s, he taught me martial arts moves that I could use to defend myself when I got into fights as a boy growing up on the streets of Brooklyn. It was then, during the Bruce Lee era, that my dream of being a Martial Artist was born.
Flash forward to 2015 as my coaching practice was growing, the dream was re-kindled when I discovered the Martial Art of Jiu-Jitsu as a practical self-defense system and grappling sport. Nine years, and several championships, later my quest for a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu is nearly complete.
Jiu-jitsu focuses on close-contact grappling and ground fighting. Originating in Japan, it was a battlefield art for the samurai. It is characterized by leverage, angles, pressure, and timing. The word “jiu jitsu” comes from the Japanese words jū, which means “gentle”, and jutsu, which means “art”.
I use the jiu-jitsu mindset to gently help my clients see things from different angles and help them best leverage their strengths. I know how much pressure to apply when challenging them and the best time to apply it. My goal isn’t to overcome my client. It’s a battle we win together.
Training jiu-jitsu has also helped me develop the virtues of friendship, patience, humility, perseverance, resilience, and confidence. I bring all those qualities to my clients, and together, we laugh and have a lot of fun.
